Making Latin Fusion

Yuka’s, founded in 2016 by  Claudia Villeda, is a vibrant testament to the richness of Latin American cuisine. Claudia, a Guatemalan-born entrepreneur, embarked on her journey to the American dream at just 18, not knowing that her culinary roots and her grandmother’s cherished recipes would shape her future.

Her first venture began in Brewster, NY, with an authentic Guatemalan restaurant that laid the groundwork for her culinary career. A few years later, she expanded her horizons by opening another restaurant in the multicultural town of Ossining, NY. This location introduced her to a diverse clientele, which fueled her determination to meet the varied culinary desires of her patrons. As Claudia insightfully noted, “It’s challenging to satisfy the preferences of a Puerto Rican, Ecuadorian, Colombian, or others by offering authentic dishes from their countries when your specialty is authentic Guatemalan cuisine.”

This challenge inspired Claudia to create a new concept: Yukas Latin Fusion. Her vision was to delight all her customers by incorporating beloved dishes from throughout Latin America while adding her own special touch. This innovative approach not only honors her Guatemalan roots but also celebrates the culinary diversity of the region.

At Yuka’s, guests can indulge in a variety of bold flavors, from the savory Ropa Vieja—an authentic Cuban dish—to the classic black beans, crafted with Claudia’s grandmother’s secret recipe, which has earned the reputation of being the best in town. Each dish showcases Claudia’s commitment to quality and authenticity, inviting diners to experience a culinary journey that reflects both her heritage and her passion for food.

Yuka’s Latin Fusion stands as a vibrant culinary destination, where every meal is a celebration of culture, creativity, and community.
